I'm currently using firefox and thinking of switching, would love some more features and a better aesthetic, but I'm interested in what others are using!

firefox, because ublock origin and sync with my desktop pc: same bookmarks on both and sending tabs to other device when i need to.

[–] stardust@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 hour ago

Firefox because Ublock Origin is the best ad blocker.

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 hour ago

Firefox. I ain't using anything else.

[–] helmet91@lemmy.world 2 points 47 minutes ago

Firefox because it works perfectly for me, and it's customizable with extensions.

Firefox + the following addons:
TWP
uBlock origin
Dark Reader
Consent-o-matic

[–] Ephera@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Is TWP "Translate Web Pages"? Android Firefox has a built-in feature for that, since like this version or so. 🙃

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 19 minutes ago

Yep.
But I like that better as I can summon it by my own will and feel like it can translate some pages better than others (detection is a bit spotty)

How has your experience with Content-O-Matic been? I noticed mixed reviews.

Have you tested any alternatives for handling gdpr pop-ups?

[–] sp6@lemmy.world 1 points 8 minutes ago

uBlock has an "EasyList/uBO - Cookie Notices" filter that you can enable on both desktop and mobile, which is probably enough for most people.

[–] Ephera@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 hour ago

I'm on "I still don't care about cookies". As opposed to Consent-o-matic, it doesn't attempt to opt-out, which makes it more reliable, but you want to use it together with Cookie AutoDelete.

Sometimes it works but simetimes it still has issues.

I"ve been using Fennec as my default.

Firefox for general use. TOR browser (Firefox) for everything else. Privacy, security, and ad blocking are paramount.

I'm using Firefox too rn. I was using Vivaldi but I decided that it was time to abandon chromium.

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 4 points 2 hours ago

Firefox. Perfect? No. But we gotta fight the Chrome monopoly. And most (all, I'm pretty sure) other browsers for Android are Chromium based. Using one of those still hands Google control of the web.

Firefox with a handful of extensions for day to day use

I keep Brave with custom configuration ready for when extra privacy is needed. Firefox based browsers on Android are currently missing site isolation so that's what privacy guides recommends for the time being.

It might be cool to see something like Zen on Android, but I'm not sure what changes I'd like to see aesthetics / features wise. Brave looks fancier, but I find it annoying to use for a number of reasons. Off the top of my head

[–] Artemis@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 hours ago

Mull (available on F-Droid)...it's like a hardened version of Firefox

[–] maxenmajs@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

I have to keep using Firefox for the mobile add-ons and because my account is synced with my desktop browser. I'm not willing to switch unless a better desktop/mobile pair comes along.

[–] doc@fedia.io 1 points 2 hours ago

Mull and Vivaldi.

[–] mitexleo@buddyverse.one 1 points 2 hours ago

I'm using Vivaldi.

[–] UsedRealNameB4@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Chrome. ~pls don't hurt me~

[–] Supernova1051@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

anything specific that firefox lacks that is keeping you on chrome?

[–] PM_ME_CUTE_ASLANS@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

Not the one you replied to but I'm also on Chrome. Haven't found a good reason to switch.

[–] Supernova1051@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 hour ago

I'll be honest, not a lot of pros to using Firefox if you don't care about using the best adblocker (uBlock origin). That said, if you haven't tried it recently, you should give it a shot. I would recommend installing uBlock Origin and Dark Reader (if you like your pages dark) for the best experience.

It's not as fast as Chrome (not noticeable on newer devices) but I personally disagree with giving Google so much power over the web, so I'm ideologically opposed to using anything based on Chromium or not open source, so my options are limited.

[–] jasep@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Adblocking isn't a good reason to switch?!

[–] Beacon@fedia.io 0 points 1 hour ago

Kiwi browser! It's the best!! Built in ad blocker, privacy respecting, can use extensions, very customizable, and so much more!
