Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Fifteen Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the measure.

Imagine hating Muslims so much that you give your political opponents the tools to suppress you.

[–] 2Password2Remember@hexbear.net 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

imagine thinking the democrats and the republicans are political opponents

Death to America

Democrats don’t think they are, Republicans definitely do. When Trump and his lackeys call democrats radical communists I don’t think they’re bullshitting, I think they absolutely believe it, and generic democrats are absolutely on the chopping block and it’s crazy they don’t recognize it

Democrats are incapable of understanding that republicans don’t want to play west wing with them

Let's take over the DNC and kick these Republicans out

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

TX and FL making sure to be included, as expected.

Fuck DWS... I had hoped she was dead, but nope, there she is, still fucking things up

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 48 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fucking democrats. What was their reasoning?

Funny I was just reading about the Holy Land Foundation yesterday

Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development'), originally known as Occupied Land Fund, was the largest Islamic charity in the United States. Headquartered in Richardson, Texas,[1] and run by Palestinian-Americans.[2] The organization's mission was to "find and implement practical solutions for human suffering through humanitarian programs that impact the lives of the disadvantaged, disinherited, and displaced peoples suffering from man-made and natural disasters."

During the 1990s, American politicians, including Chuck Schumer and Eliot Spitzer,[3][4] alongside the Israeli government[5] and Steve Emerson,[6] lobbied the U.S. government to take action against the Holy Land Foundation.[7] In December 2001, the U.S. designated HLF a terrorist organization, seized its assets, and closed the organization. At the time it was the largest Muslim charitable organisation in the United States

Fucking ghouls

[–] EstraDoll@hexbear.net 43 points 1 week ago

blob-no-thoughts i'm glad terrorism is a term with such a universally understood, concrete definition

This is the kind of stuff you need to shove in the faces of liberals. They claim have to vote blue to stop le evil dictator Trump and yet what does their party do? Go out of their way to give him dictatorship tools. They cannot claim they're anything but slightly nervous and reticent accomplices instead of any kind of resistance to him and therefore voting blue is not resisting, it's just another form of enabling and deluding yourself.

This is doing the "look how unscientific your beliefs are" that libs do to republicans except from the left to libs. It doesn't land and never will on account of you do not share the same axioms

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

It does land, a lot. Hence why there are millions of disaffected Democrats who no longer identify as Democrats

[–] Bureaucrat@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

11 million people didn't vote for the dems, I think it lands sometimes

[–] nandos_house_of_glues@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

ya, DID NOT VOTE is the perpetual GOAT, there aren’t as many ideologically committed liberals as people sometimes imagine. A great many people are vaguely liberal by osmosis but in no way engaged or invested in it

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

Only the house passed it. Definitely wait for the Senate to pass it to avoid looking like a crank.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 32 points 1 week ago

Of fucking course Debbie Wasserman Schultz voted for it

[–] Piment@hexbear.net 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Was almost sure this would pass, it did dog-screm hopefully groups like the ACLU can minimize the damage so every group that protests isn't immediately regarded as a terrorist group, Democrats doing a fantastic job of making me somehow even less likely to vote next time around

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago

ACLU? Believe it or not, terrorist organization

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is this going to be for "Trump's political opponents" or are groups like PYM going to be classified as terrorists?

[–] TheDrink@hexbear.net 30 points 1 week ago (1 children)

By 2028 I bet fukken Code Pink and Jewish Voice for Peace will be classified as terrorist movements.

[–] TheDeed@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

I bet 2025 for JVP unfortunately

[–] QuillcrestFalconer@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

You can only be a terrorist if you are a for profit organization, the true American way

[–] VARXBLE@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 week ago

I'd argue its an act of terrorism to donate to either major American political party.

[–] mactan@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 week ago

as if OFAC isnt already a thing
