Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

We will be completely unrecognizable in four years. Stay safe, everyone.

[–] PortoPeople@lemm.ee 9 points 3 days ago

Yup. Things are different now.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 35 points 4 days ago (3 children)

So are we comfortable saying ACA is gone?

Say goodbye to all social services.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

very likely imo. the black guy enacted it, and the republicans are supine bitches who will do as commanded.

[–] Atom@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Yep, it will be up to 5 republicans in the house to save anything, ACA, IRA, Medicaid, etc. Our only hope is that they remember the blue wave rebuke of Trump in 2018 and choose to be moderate. But they can easily flip the coin the other way and know this is the end times and they need to ram through all the terrible shit fast.

midterms are not guaranteed to happen. the traitors own us. at least for now.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

So he's gonna adopt the entire dictator playbook, but leave out the one single page about "purges"?

[–] Atom@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well, yes, of course this is assuming he is stopped from going full dictator. That could easily happen, but it would be terrible for the economy so...and I never thought I'd say this...but thankfully deep pocketed lobbyists will mostly be trying to keep the current state of democracy intact. If we go full monarchy, it's not great for business...

But again, coin flip, end times, and we're all super fucked anyway so the ACA is the least of our concerns.

I mean, if the shareholders can pull a pump and dump before the economy hits the fan...then that's absolutely what's going to happen. Thinking about anything beyond the next quarter is not standard corporate practice.

Incoming Concepts of a Plan Act

[–] Sho@lemmy.world 30 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Oh goody, now comes the endless wave of media outlets dick riding Trump talking points for 4 years....

[–] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 37 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Here comes? They never stopped! And they worked overtime framing everything Harris needed to be perfect, then cover Trump talking just word salad and writing a positive interpretation of what they thought he meant by it.

[–] Sho@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

You're right, that was my last shred of light hearted banter regarding the shift that about to happen. It's all downhill from here, but good news is that after this is all said and done I'm sure democrats will be right there to state the obvious after the fact. Always a day late and a dollar short.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I really don't know how bad it'll get. Bad, for sure. I wonder whether he'll give away Alaska in exchange for some gaudy hotel in Moscow.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Alaska votes for him, and it has oil. He'll keep it. He might sell Puerto Rico, though.

[–] toomanypancakes@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

I'm expecting to be rounded up and put in a camp the first year, but it's gonna be even worse than that? Shit.

[–] justOnePersistentKbinPlease@fedia.io 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And all of the corporate news execs are elated because for the next 4 years they don't have to worry about running out of news; because they think they're safe.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

They're just going to reshape in his image. Kowtow. Then, what you think is news and what you need to hear won't be on any network. Many of the same people may still be there. They just won't be saying the things they used to say and will be trying to sound like the winning side, and that they were always there. Showing that they never had any backbone to begin with.

[–] FatherGascown@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You apes did this to yourselves.

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

No, the uber-wealthy who control the media - among extreme influence over most other things through their financial sway - have been doing most of the damage for at least a few decades now. It's a story repeated throughout history.
