Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

They're still going to vote for him.

[–] seeyouatthepartyrichter@lemmy.world 109 points 1 week ago (4 children)

It doesn’t matter what he says.

He could get up there and say yabba dabba doo kill all blacks. These morons would still vote for him.

It’s never been about anything but themselves and their hate for democrats and their invented enemies.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He could get up there and say yabba dabba doo kill all blacks. These morons would still vote for him.

His base wouldn't be phased by that. If anything his numbers would go UP.

[–] PixelatedSaturn@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The black trump supporters would say, that he didn't mean it and that they like he speaks his mind.

[–] naeap@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah, trying to follow his incoherent verbal diarrhoea, he absolutely speaks his scrambled mind

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It doesn’t matter what he says.

It really doesn't. Just watch a rally, in full, and try to summarise one topic he addressed. Just one.

You can't, because he babbles incoherently. He knows nothing about any of the topics that he stumbles into.

The only time his words can be understood, provided he doesn't go off script, is when he's reading what someone else wrote for him!

This discussion is making me vaguely wonder if you could poison a chatbot AI's training data by putting enough Trump speeches in it.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

And yet, it seems to be destroying his chances. So maybe it in fact does matter what he says.

[–] seeyouatthepartyrichter@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I hope I’m wrong and people are finally waking up.

So...yeah, you were right.

[–] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Whoa there with that woke agenda. Yer making too much sense.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

I hope you are right because I am feeling your username rn, I have confidence in Harris' campaign but voters have to do their thing too.

Spoiler: voters did not do the thing.

[–] morphballganon@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 week ago

That sentiment is premature until he loses.

[–] RedstoneValley@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Elsewhere on lemmy someone joked that around 10% of the americans will still vote for him when he's dead because his so called death is just a fake media conspiracy.

[–] MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

That would be fucking delicious. The GOP couldn't win a national election again.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 56 points 1 week ago (1 children)

When his base refuses to hold him accountable for anything he says, he can say anything he wants.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago

His base as well as his legislative and judicial collaborators in treason.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 53 points 1 week ago

Or maybe it's like he was already a dumb as fuck bigoted rapist well before the dementia got this bad.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 34 points 1 week ago (2 children)

See, I kind of think that too... but he has to win if he wants to stay out of prison...

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 63 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i think it's probably more accurate to say "he doesn't care if he wins by votes"...

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Yeah trump is planning on winning by getting the votes. Someone in power promised him that he doesn't need the votes, Johnson most likely and the Supreme Court are probably prime to hand it to him. We got to hope more people vote Harris so this can't happen.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

Yeah trump is planning on winning by getting the votes.

Did you mean to put a "not" in there?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

"Trumo".

Can't tell if typo, or insult that I don't understand the context of.

[–] ladicius@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

My take: He has to win if he wants Pootin to keep the pedophile videos away from the public.

It never was about pissing... It was about the age of the pissers.

[–] JustZ@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well like when he was jerking off a microphone and pretending to suck on it?

The dude's a capital fucking loser and so are his supporters.

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It’s almost like he’s not a serious candidate. One that, instead, is in this only in this to enrich himself, and maybe avoid the consequences of his previous illegal behavior. Like, I don’t know, they’ve been hoodwinked by a con-man. I mean, that can’t be it, can it?

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 week ago

Want has nothing to do with it. He doesn't care. Winning the vote is, and always has been, his plan B. Plan A, as far as he's concerned, is still chugging along without a hitch. Speaker of the House refuses to certify the count, goes all the way up to the supreme court, Supreme Court installs him.

He has literally no other plan than that.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Meh, just a spoiled man-child making defeatist pity-me comments now that the time to pay the piper is approaching. “Maybe I shouldn’t have been such a dumbass and actually tried to do some real work…”

[–] pigup@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Billionaires don't work

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He has never wanted to do the job as president. Not last time, not this time.

[–] Aqarius@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago
[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Called it! Only his base is dumb enough to keep voting for him anyway.

[–] RedstoneValley@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Trump Insiders Like, literally, physically inside him?
