I will preface this and say I'm basically a media junkie in rehab and this has been a thorn in my side and I hate to say it. I need validation on this issue.

So, after watching the Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers Movie. My brain has been unable to stomach anything involving reboots or anything related to a brand.

Mainly, it was at first the meta humor of making fun of tropes that happen in alot of animation movies. I was willing to let it slide but then watching videos about the Easter eggs and noticing how it was a Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2. This made me start seeing the movie in a different way, so I watched it again. And then again...

I realized that the movie felt off in ways I'll try to explain.

1.) The Easter eggs would make it seem that Toons have more or less been given similar rights to humans. But then they showed Ugly Sonic, a character hated by the Internet and fans but then ironically liked. But this asks the question of how Tons are made, are some born and others not? If that's the case, how does Toon Rights work?

1a.) Would Rule 34 be considered illegal? 1b.) What happens to Toons who were a character fora racist show, do they basically hate themselves or did they fight in a Toon Civil Rights thing?

2.) SORA WAS BOOTLEGGED!! HOW WAS SQUARE ENIX FUCKING HIS MONEY BRUH!? MICKEY COULDNT EVEN HELP HIM OUT!? How much do Toons exactly make and do they get automatic royalties to their contracts?

3.) The fact that they had Seth Rogan make the joke of his voice and him being in different movies made me wonder how do Toons deal with that? Imagine 100 toons from flopped shows coming after you for voicing them wrong.

4.) Making something based off any IP is basically human trafficking to Disney. And they try to make fun of themselves while holding the reigns of power even in this world

I have some other issues but since this, it felt like the movie was trying to scream about how Toons, Writers, Actors, etc should strike as it's obvious that they are mistreated. But like with most meta commentary movies they basically whitewash any potentially good story writing. I wanted this movie to be maybe about the identity crisis I think a Toon might get to some degree (heck Chip basically was a insurance agent with an alright home). Like the story could be kept somewhat the same but change it to where the meta jokes have them doing something that is done rather straight instead of constant wacky hijinks. Or even have some Toon version of Max Fleischer wanting to bring back his nostalgia.

Maybe soak in the dynamics between all the different animation styles, would've been the best time to have an The Amazing World of Gumball cameo. But this goes back to what this movie was, a high-key flex from Disney to show how they can basically write the narrative

I won't be surprised if we get a Little Rascals reboot and they still keep ALOT of the racial undertones but just update the looks.
