To be honest, I don't think that's too bad of a trade-off, but I can see how this would be controversial in the context of desktop computing.

it's bizarre how IHVs will absolutely crank power for such marnigal gains in average fps :(

I'm happy ARL is taking this approach.

They admitted this when they announced the ultra core series.

I'm not exactly sure how the ultra core series are better, but the evaluation team at my company determined that the ultra 7 265H outperformed the last i9 in an equivalent laptop.

I'm not impressed with it so far as the damn thing won't work with the dock >.<

So this is what marketing can spit out in their best possible light. That means it can only go downhill from here. Not very promising.
