Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Pfffhahahahah

Oh wait he's serious. Let me laugh even harder.

He's not even a Democrat anymore, he's an "independent". He would only be running if he had a chance to throw the election to Trump.

[–] Beaver@lemmy.ca 26 points 3 months ago (1 children)

He’s all about those pay cheques

Must have realized time on the houseboat as a lobbyist is much more lucrative than sitting in the Whitehouse.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Calling his yacht, Almost Heaven, a houseboat undermines his assholeness.

[–] NegativeInf@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Looked it up. Looks like the kinda yacht you see people rent on TV for a douchey party. Or is that just all yachts? Because I swear I saw this one on 30 Rock?

As someone who grew up in WV, he ran as a democrat but he’ll always be just another Coal Baron, just like the current governor Jim Justice.

What an Orwellian lastname pfft

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

I remember one time in high school this kid at the lunch table said, "Do you know when you're beating off and you put a finger in your butt?" And everyone was like wtf no?

This has those vibes. Nobody asked, Manchin.

[–] Beaver@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 months ago

Perfect analogy!

[–] Beaver@lemmy.ca 25 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Thank the gods. The corporate democrat realized his arrogance.

[–] qprimed@lemmy.ml 21 points 3 months ago (1 children)

hes stirring the pot or pushing for some backdoor something - thats the entire sum of his existence.

perhaps he got it or was told by adults on all sides that holy hell was about to rain down on him.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

was told by adults on all sides that holy hell was about to rain down on him.

Seems plausible this is exactly what happened.

Manchin said he favored the idea of a "mini-primary" process before a candidate to replace Biden was chosen. Asked if he thought Harris was too liberal, Manchin said, "Absolutely."

Moments earlier, Manchin was asked on CNN if he would run against Harris. "I don't know," he said.

but then

"Let me make it very clear to you ... I am not going to be a candidate for president. I am a candidate for [remainder of this quote soft-launching a podcast has been omitted because I am sick of listening to this jerk off]" Manchin told CBS television shortly after refusing to rule out a run in another interview.

So, yeah, I wonder if he got a terse phone call between those two interviews.

I would like to take this opportunity to announce that I too will not be running for president in 2024.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Disappointing, but understandable.

I will not be running for president in 2024 as well. I will see you all in 2028 as I contemplate my run at that time.

[–] Toto@lemmy.world 19 points 3 months ago

As a Canadian, I would like to announce that I too will not be seeking the presidency.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 12 points 3 months ago

Oh shit, is this Joe Manchin's "I'm Spartacus" moment?

Let's also show our support:
Fuck off, Joe Manchin! Go swim in a pool of piss, you back-stabbing grifter!

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

Manchin leans into the microphone, speaking slowly and clearly: “I will not run for president in 2024.”

The speaker above the microphone responds: “Sir, this is a Wendy’s.”

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

Uhhh, was he planning on it? That would have been very embarrassing for him.

[–] spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 months ago

Manchin has as much chance of becoming the Democratic nominee as Pence did at being the GQP candidate.

[–] Fourth@mander.xyz 3 points 3 months ago

What a chump.
