So I guess we're all good now. Recruiter messaged back saying it was a great reference.

HR rang to let me know my start date and time, and what to expect on my first day.

It's done.

Thank you everyone for all your help and support ❤️❤️❤️

Now I'm going to give the cat a shit load of treats, and enjoy some video games without feeling guilty because I should be applying for jobs.

It's been a huge learning experience the last 6 months. I won't be forgetting the lessons any time soon.

Reference has been given. Sounds like it went well! Thanks again to the poster here who was able to help me with that. Very much in their debt.

Now I'll get a call from the recruiter later today or tomorrow which will give me the final word that we are all a go for next week.

Fingers crossed!

Edit: I send the recruiter a text to "touch base" and she said it was a great reference!!!

Thank you to the person who gave it this morning ❤️

I'm going to pretend everything is fine for next week. HR rang me yesterday letting me know who to meet and at what time.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

Medical procedures, vomiting, death mentionThis is great… I’m now vomiting liquid more frequently, cold all the time, getting dehydrated and sleeping a lot. My stomach is slowly shutting down and my doctor is telling me that I’m at risk of sudden death from malnutrition.

I’ve been trying to get a feeding tube for a while but the medical system is very slow and obstructive so I have a weird sense that I possibly might not make it.

are you able to go to emergency and be admitted to hospital?

That's terrifying and I'm so sorry you're going through that. I hope things improve and you have naught to fear. Sending my love and good vibes💜

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago

I’m so sorry. That sounds awful. I really hope that things improve. I know it’s cliche, and easier said than done, but staying positive and hopeful can help with coping and recovering from medical issues. You can get through this. DT needs you, stay strong.

Happy Go-Live day folks! A project that should've taken max 3 weeks but ended up taking closer to 3 months is finally going in today. Threatened my team that if they bring up one more "Oh, BTW I just thought of X" in front of the vendor the next thing I deliver for them will be a resignation letter. I'm joking, but not really. I no longer care if we deliver the most broken thing in the world, I just want it off my damn plate.

Getting a hang of waking up early again. Up at 7am today and didn't go back to sleep. Just have to keep it up for another few days and I'll be set for next week.

Just went through the performance discussion and I still have my job. It just seems like I'll be getting around on 1 HP at work for a while.

My biggest hope is nothing else happens any time soon as it will be too many mistakes close together. I think I'm going to work on getting out of here and at least this allows me to leave on my own terms.

I did not expect my lovely little trip to feature a visit to urgent care, but here we are. After vomiting all day they've given me anti-nausea stuff. Hopefully I can actually enjoy the rest of the trip!

On the way home from tennis. I gave myself two options: 1. Take PT home and order delivery or 2. Take a cab home and make food instead. I did neither, took PT home and will make food instead of ordering in. Go me!

Omfg the amount of bloatware on this laptop is insane! Windows really is just bloat at this point. It reminds me of when I was younger and used to have a cheap shitty Optus/Telstra phone they probably sold as a loss leader. They used to come with sooo much bloatware. Even the cheap Samsung's used to.

But seriously. No I don't fucking want Norton, LinkedIn, candy crush, Microsoft maps, or Facebook. God. And everything is so pushy, why can't it be quiet bloatware.

Open edge

Search for chrome

"There's no need to switch to another browser! Edge performs better."

Close popup

Go to the download chrome page

"Microsoft edge performs up to 3x faster than >google chrome!"

Close popup

Download chrome

Open chrome

"Installer error! Failed with error code 57"

Norton popup: "we found a threat on your device! But don't worry. We blocked it."

I NEVER WANTED NORTON OR EDGE I JUST WANT CHROOOOOOOMEEEEEEEEEEEE. FUCK. OFF

this was also after about 15 minutes of trying to figure out how to fuck all the Microsoft garbage off and just use a local account.

And now:

MSI Centre popup: "Have you backed up your system?"

NO I HAVEN'T BACKED UP MY FUCKING SYSTEM THERE'S NOTHING TO BACKUP YET YOU DONKEY! I HAVENT EVEN INSTALLED CHROME YET!!!

Update: it just arrived. I checked the tracking at 7:18 and it was still saying ready for processing so I went to the kitchen to grab some cheeky ice cream, and then there was a surprise knock on my door! Delivered at 7:21, and after double checking the tracking they've retroactively marked it as on board for delivery in Tullamarine at 7:12 (definitely wasn't there before). I'm a lot more than 8 minutes from tullamarine. I'll be honest - I jumped when I heard the knock. And yes, it came through startrack not auspost (although in my mind they're still the same thing)

Not complaining though, that was bloody efficient. I mean look at this!

New laptop day though!

Honestly this weather is so fucking shit. Literally have not left the house today and frankly it's probably going to stay that way.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

it's fucking freezing

so I will be staying home tomorrow sewing

Anti-gratitude thread >:(

  • Friend from uni cancelled on me and the reason was because something minor came up apparently. Didn't say what. Last time we were meant to catch up, they hadn't even left the house and were half an hour away at the time we were supposed to meet, so I told them we can reschedule. I have cancelled on them last minute before as well, but this is not the only time they've done it. Time to find alternative social arrangements for this week, because I will go insane without seeing people.

  • I think the weight I've gained, in an attempt to gain muscle, is just belly fat

[–] Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

I understand about the weight thing. For me, it generally works out to about 50/50 muscle and fat. Just wish getting musclier didn't have to involve getting a belly.

I hate that I'm not a morning person at all and it's cold today. I felt it outside and now I'm going to defrost.

Been trying to teach myself how to make a business website using Wordpress, because I can't really afford to pay someone thousands to do it for me. Thought it would be easy to figure out for someone with slightly above average IT skills, but it's really not. Now I realise why people pay professionals for Wordpress websites.

Using a theme as a base is the way to go for a beginner like me, but so many of the free themes on offer are so template-y looking with zero design flair. I'd start with a basic theme thinking I could make it look good, only to realise that I can't and the customisation level is so limited (or I can't figure out how to make larger customisations).

Now after days of searching, I've found a nice looking theme that seems user friendly to work with. Starting all over again with customising it. Hope this one works.

Lol, MIL isnt feeling great, so drinks are off and games are on.

Straightened my hair for nothing. I never straighten my hair, usually just leave it bushy, or under a beanie. Bleh.

Maybe I'll try and convince my better-half of a pub meal. I haven't eaten all day.

[–] bull@aussie.zone 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

All done with my meetings for today. Sadly there has been a casualty though as I somehow tore a big hole in one of my pairs of Melbourne Storm bamboo cotton boxers. Not where you'd think either.. it's almost up near my left hip. Anyways RIP boxers, you touched me in tender places and held me close.

Ahh... I've been feeding Melbcat lots of treats to keep her appetite up and her tummy lined, and they contain sugar in the form of molasses. At the vet I saw some redness on her gums and tartar on her teeth. I wonder how far I'd get with brushing them.

Unfortunately there aren't very many other treats she can have.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I’m not sure you can realistically start brushing teeth as an adult. Like bathing, start them tiny or wear chainmaile

MWave still hasn't sent my GPU. I ordered it 2 days ago. And I paid like 20 bucks to have it express posted so I'd get it before weeks end, but it doesn't seem like that's going to be happening. Bloody rude.

Edit: when I was swapping out the ram, I did properly look at the GPU and figured out why it sounds like a helicopter. This would be why:

I thought it was just a bent blade. But nah. The wifi card absolutely fucked the blade

Edit: they just emailed me to say apparently they no longer have any stock, so they're ordering more from the supplier and expect it to arrive between Tuesday and Friday (next week!). I specifically checked stock, and they said they had it in stock at their little warehouse. Fucking grubs took so long sending out my order, they ran out of stock!

Update: it pretty much turned out to be option 1. I did manage to sleep in for about 30 minutes longer than my usual time, but since I could've gotten 3.5 hours more than usual and I'm still feeling tired (but can't get back to sleep), I'm calling that option 1

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)
