I joined this sub on a whim and now I want to make bread

That's how it gets you!

You should. Making sourdough is fun. Even mistakes usually taste good. If you need any hints or tips I'm sure you'll find help here.

This is interesting because it looks like this is designed to be a one-off starter (for one loaf). If you want to use it more often you can grow it from this and feed it for a week or so. Then you'll be able to use 50g or whatever they recommend in this recipe for bread and store the rest to keep feeding for later

I'm treating it like a starter that needs to be got going again, so fed it up yesterday and I'll do the same for the next couple of days. It is definitely bubbling, so it wasn't totally dead when I got it!

Probably a good idea to feed it for a few days before baking with it, but then again I've never used a powered starter before!

Yeah, I'm going to feed it up until it's lively I think.

I would add more water than it recommends since you're rehydration the dried culture, but otherwise it looks fine. I'd also feed it again so as to have some for future batches!
