Uncle Joe is holding his breath and took a drag from a cigarette/vape before the video started.
When he puts the cracker in his mouth he extinguishes the fuse and then acts like it exploded and exhales the previously inhaled smoke for comedic effect.
That’s my guess any way.
I was told these would blow off my fingers.
They don't blow off your fingers. They do hurt like a motherfucker and leave you with a first degree burn and the gunpowder equivalent of a henna tattoo.

M80's will blow your fingers off. Black Cats will just hurt like a motherfucker. Idk how this dude tanked one inside his mouth. These must be smaller than a standard Black Cat.
Trick is to not wrap your hand and fingers around them. You can hold one in your palm and it will just give you some burns and a sting. As soon as it’s cupped it’s game over. I don’t recommend trying this out though.
I think they were just small. The type that blow off fingers are usually bigger and louder
