is this one of those bikes where you pedal really really fast and it barely moves or one of those bikes that could hypothetically reach 125mph through gearing alone but when you jump up and down on the pedals they won't budge

This has got to be an art piece, right?

There doesn't seem to be a way in the world the chain does that without being affixed to the upper cog wheels, rendering the thing useless

it's on a small cog fixed to a solid axle to spin the gears on the other side. there's a through-axle every time it switches sides to a new crankset, each crankset is only driving a small loop of chain.
