-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Title seems mildly disingenuous. Guy clearly was quite mentally unwell, beyond perceived parallels in political degeneracy. The reality is, what he ranted about seems like paranoid delusion 101.

But what do I know.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 65 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Dude clearly has delusions of grandeur, but the fuel being fed into that is far right ideology. In a sense, he just acted on what right wing rhetoric says is the ideal.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I think this post is missing the point, and is also potentially insensitive to the family. That's all.

[–] Cummunism@hexbear.net 48 points 9 months ago (1 children)

i'm going to say the odds his family sees this post on HexBear is quite low. Almost non-existent.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

If empathy ceases once you're out of sight, what is it?

[–] Cummunism@hexbear.net 40 points 9 months ago (1 children)

which part is insensitive? the "lunatic" part?

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, just seemed unnecessary. Words like that when directed towards people with mental illness is problematic.

There's no doubt what he did is shocking and devastating, but perpetuating loaded, stigmatized language in relation to mental illness is part of the equation when it comes to treatment avoidance.

[–] Jew@hexbear.net 50 points 9 months ago

This level of psychosis is so far removed from common onsets of mental illness that it is a diservice to associate this person with mental illness. The rate of people with psychotic episodes is 60x less than the rate of people with depression. Of the psychosis group only a fraction of that group expresses their psychosis through violence. Fuck this guy and the rhetoric surrounding this as a mental health failing. He is a monster and an asshole. Stuff like this being associated with mental health only serves to stoke reinstitutionalization and worsen stigma.

Shut the fuck up liberal

Conservative media has fully integrated into trying to get mentally unwell people do do their terrorist work like this. Create a mass network of "respected" hyperbolic new stations that touch onto psycho-fascist conspiracy theories and justifications for violence but stop just short of telling people do this stuff. Have these ideas further spread and explicitly stated by "individuals" on the internet: smaller conservative/billionaire funded podcasts, YouTube channels, web forums, FB pages, etc. Keep repeating these points over and over until a person who's not tied to society enough to do it (i.e. the extremely mentally unwell, lonely boomer men whose families have left them, etc.). Use that violence to feed back into the fascist narrative pushed by the initial big news media companies that society is collapsing due to "terrorist violence" that they then claim is left-wing or just blamed specifically on mental health (which also feeds into massive fascist desire to purge anyone with psychological issues) and pretend it's not conserva-fascist at all.

In short, you are a liberal dipshit. This exact scenario has happened dozens of times now.

I think this video about pewdiepie of all things by NonCompete is a pretty good look into stochastic terrorism.

[–] voight@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)
[–] Aquilae@hexbear.net 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It's about the whole "Subscribe to Pewdiepie" thing and his nazi jokes over the years contributing to the Christchurch mosque shooting

[–] voight@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Sure he ought to be at the Nuremburg Trials II: For Real This Time We Are Not Kidding, but I can't bring myself to watch a video about a shooting in the context of a youtuber's "why this other content creator is a psychopath ☝️🤓" documentary

[–] Aquilae@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Eh it's not really that. Using his name was more of a clickbait to get more views.

It's just about stochastic terrorism in general.

brown person beheads someone: this proves that all brown people are inherently barbaric

white person beheads someone: that person was just mentally ill

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Where did you discern from my comment that this is my stance, or were you already foaming before you got here?

[–] wopazoo@hexbear.net 36 points 9 months ago

wasn't even replying to you but ok

[–] HamManBad@hexbear.net 43 points 9 months ago

Where's the lie? He's deep into MAGA conspiracies, he's clearly a lunatic, and he beheaded his own father. Political paranoia seems to be the catalyst for transforming his mental illness into extreme violence. Not coincidentally, many (in fact the vast majority) of mass shooters are consumers of fascist ideology, even if some are "ironic". Telling a mentally unwell person their country is at war with a pervasive, satanic enemy is NOT good for their well-being

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 39 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It's more that one of the two political parties in the country lines up perfectly with the beliefs of deeply unwell people with paranoid delusions.

If he hadn't said this stuff while holding his father's severed head it would not be that far off from the warm up acts at a trump rally.

[–] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 23 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

i think both of the parties offer some pretty good fodder for paranoia. you see nancy pelosi saying that the chinese and the russians are funding protestors?

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Yea but she didn't follow that up by saying so we need to kill all the protesters because they're coming to rape your family.

Democrats are absolutely feeding peoples paranoid deluisons, just not their violent paranoid delusions.

Hell anytime somebody breaks a window the entire party comes out to denounce it.

Meanwhile everytime a right wing psycho murders people they get a speaking gig on fox.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 23 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Democrats prefer their violence structural

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 14 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Absolutely don't get me wrong I'm normt defending democrats. To anybody outside the country itnwoukd seem insane to suggest democrats are less violent but like you said their violence is institutionalized.

But libs clutch their pearls if you suggest punching a nazi. Meanwhile there's trucks driving around with bumper stickers that say "kill your local pedophile" and "Democrat = pedophile" on the same vehicle.

Republicans are knowingly encouraging random acts of violence against anybody that disagrees with them. Like it's a really obvious and ongoing tactic. Liberals wouldn't lift a finger to prevent my death but at least they don't regularly publicly fantasize about violently murdering me and my whole family in extra judicial killings.

[–] Dr_Gabriel_Aby@hexbear.net 9 points 9 months ago

Yea I would say the democrats side wants the empire to run efficiently and will make any compromise for that to happen, whilethe other side thinks they need to wipe out half the population for the nation to run efficiently.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

Liberals do regularly publicly fantasize about violently murdering the civilian populations of official state enemies.

[–] Cummunism@hexbear.net 34 points 9 months ago

Title seems mildly disingenuous.

Nah it's spot on. He's a right ring nut job and they are mentally unwell in a way that makes liberals palpable.

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 28 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

More and more people will have a similar paranoia and delusion until half the country is like this. This is what capitalism and fascism do to people. Mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Inhumane and alienated conditions lead to inhumane and alien people.

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 21 points 9 months ago

He posted the now-deleted pamphlet to Booksie, a free, online publishing site, writing: “To be blunt, Americans will have to weigh what is worse — allowing themselves to lose freedom and independence or killing their own family members, teachers, coworkers, bosses, judges, elected leaders, and other older generations who are traitors and wish to take away the freedom and independence that comes with America, democracy, and free market capitalism.” He likened his writings to Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense,” which advocated for the 13 American colonies to separate from Britain.

This is the standard MAGA rhetoric. You should’ve seen thedonald’s independent website during the days leading up to the 2020 election as well as Jan 6.
