I feel this way about only connect, how you're supposed to get some of those connections on anything before the 4th clue is beyond me, sometimes even then...

The thing is though, everyone knows that. Victoria, the players, even the camera men probably. They know it's a stupidly hard quiz and that the point of it is to be cheap filler for BBC 4 which tried to have an all upmarket, TV-for-posh-people air to it when it launched. You were never going to see someone get gunged on there so the next best thing is publicly humiliating them for not spotting a sequence of Roman numerals spelled out in binary... Plus I got one right a bit ago and I felt so accomplished! And I do enjoy when the episode ends with an over stretching Michael Portillo joke.
