Ohio is basically Florida without beaches or Disneyworld.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

When the rivers catch fire do you really want a beach?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Technically there are beaches on the Lake Erie shore. Last time I checked, they were not on fire, but probably would have been improved by fire.

[–] lingh0e@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Not technically. There are some very nice beaches on the lake. And while they're not currently burning... they probably SHOULD be on fire because they're some of the most absurdly expensive properties in NE Ohio. Just Google images of Bay Village.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

And soybeans. But no mountains.

[–] wazzupdog@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

After living in both ohio > Florida (except the winter, snow sucks)

[–] lingh0e@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

Fuck Disney. We got Cedar Point... America's Roller Coast!

[–] MrPoopyButthole@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Yes, but we like to build little make-pretend NYCs and there aren't nearly as many gators

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago (4 children)

For starters: Air Force Museum, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, several professional sports teams, gorgeous parks, the best amusement park in the US, and nearly 12 million people.

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland browns, are we really calling them professionals?

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

The Reds and Cavs are breathing a sigh of relief that you forgot about them

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

TIL football is the only sport

[–] yeather@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Oh, the Reds and the Cavs are any better?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

What about the team formerly known as the Indians?

Edit: well fuck me for asking, I guess

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

and nearly 12 million people.

who wish they were somewhere else.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

You know how many astronauts are from Ohio? There's such a drive to escape that state that some people feel they need to leave the planet entirely.

In all seriousness, I think that it's a great state to be from.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I imagine Ohio isn't really that bad. Mostly because I've never been there.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Completely by chance, I've lived half my life in various parts of Ohio.

It's not hell, but I like other places better overall. There are specific things and people that I miss, but most of those people also left.

It's the Midwest. It's where Americans are bred before they move to the West Coast.

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

the best amusement park in the US

Fuck yes. America's Roller Coast may be the best manmade thing in the country.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

It was also voted the best amusement park in the world for quite a while.

[–] doingless@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Toledo, Dayton, Youngstown, Lima, Hocking Hills, the edge of Appalachia and lots of corn.

[–] lingh0e@sh.itjust.works 6 points 10 months ago

There's also some Amish folk, Swensons, Melt and the, home of Devo, Halle Berry and Dr. Beverly Crusher.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

I think it's more soybeans now

[–] Kbin_space_program@kbin.social 7 points 10 months ago

Something driving people to strive to leave the planet entirely. Based on NASA astronaut states of origin.

[–] Blackout@kbin.social 6 points 10 months ago

Corn and hicks
