Is this a case of fungus gnats or thrips? I put out yellow sticky traps but I'm not catching anything.

If you have bugs, and dont want to risk it, you could try something generically effective like neem oil, or a citric acid mix, to be safe.
Just make sure you are careful with your lighting when you treat your plants with it. Most essential oil pesticides cause phototoxicity when wet, and nothing is worse than giving yourself a new problem while solving another
