If only speaking from personal experience, many games nowadays have an almost implicit requirement to search up a "before I play" guide or a "beginner recommendations". If nothing else, many people want to Google "missables", to ensure that they can fully experience a game.

What is your recommended game that requires nothing but the player to be in the moment and enjoy the experience?

Horizon: Zero Dawn. The story is just a masterpiece. It's the only game I've ever played where I WANTED to collect, listen, and read all of the small lore pieces. The combat is incredible and the enemies are so diverse, unlike your typical recycled RPG enemies. I want to say so much more about this, I'm struggling not to give any information here. It's a game that you need to go in completely blind. With no expectations, you'll have an amazing time. Hell, even with high expectations, you won't leave disappointed. This is a game that was so good, Sony started developing two sequels before the first one was released.
