Lost a bet so I have to get my kids a non-Nintendo system. At this point, is there good reason to go with Xbox over PS5 (or vice versa)? (alien.top)

Im not much of a gamer (ironically I make games for a living) but I made a bet with my kids that if the Detroit Lions make the playoffs this year I'll buy them a system, and its looking like almost a lock to happen, so I want to get in on some Holiday deals.

This is their first non-Nintendo system so I'm a little lost on which way to go at this point in the generation cycle. For reference they're 7 and 9 year old boys and are gonna be new to gaming that isnt based around crafting or Italian brothers. (i made them use my old NES, then SNES first, then got them a Switch a couple years back)

I got neither this gen. PC (and Switch!) all the way. If I were to choose I would go ps5 but PURELY because a couple of my friends are using it. I honestly dont think many people's kids are gonna be playing the sony exclusives, not unless theyre really into spiderman. So I would recommend, if it's really 50/50 and the kids don't prefer ps5, that you get an xbox with xbox game pass so they can download frankly most games they'll ever need.

Also the xbox controllers are much more durable and well made, some of mine have lasted 13 years whereas my ps4 controller became unusable after 2 years.
