I'm like 80% positive that Resident Evil games make zombies have more or less heslth depending on how much Ammo you currently have on you. When I only have a few bullets, I seem to scrape by. But when I actually get a decent amount of Ammo saved up, all of the sudden every zombie needs 12 shots to the brain to knock em down, and then they get back up to take another 5 or so bullets. Makes me not even worry about Ammo conservation knowing that as soon as I get stocked up the game is just gonna make me blow through everything every other encounter.
It isn't exactly that but yeah it's a difficulty adjustment system. The game will become easier or harder depending on how you are doing.
Im getting that with Alan Wake II now.
The trick is to beat the game at its own game by getting the ammo surplus, then finding a way to kill the next zombie with minimal resources or avoid it entirely. That's one of the main differences between people who get through these games easily and people who struggle.
