I always somehow find my way back to playing No Man's Sky. No matter what I do, game I play, activity inside or outside of gaming, NMS is always there to play and chill. Sometimes I go on creative and spend a week amassing the perfect color coordinated team of ships, crew, frigates, and freighter.

That and every content update we get for free!

No game has a more satisfying loot grind/itemization. Whether playing a new ladder or a solo self-found character, the thrill is always there for that next rare drop.

And if I’m being completely honest, it’s the nostalgia. The early 2000s were my peak video gaming years.

They did an excellent job on the remaster. Plays like it always did and looks incredible.

20+ years is a hell of a habit to break.

Beyond that though, the items in endgame are quite fun. Can use runewords to guarantee some slots and rare drops for others. The gameplay loop is a bit stale by today’s standards, but you can drop an item to make you roll a whole new character. A lot of similar type games today don’t really have that. Builds play a lot differently. You can Taylor a build to farming specific content. There’s really a lot on offer from D2 if you like grindy games.

Exactly the reason why D4 falls flat after a while. I'm not on the "D4 bad" hate wagon, there's definitely things I liked about the game. But the Smart Loot is so fucking awful. D2 you play two times. First your actual playthrough. Second you find all kinds of crazy stuff that makes you go "time to roll a new sorc and try this item!". It's what keeps you coming back over and over again. The itemization is unrivaled imo. D4 loot is boring to the point I don't even want to look at it after a couple of dungeons.
