I am playing Horizon Zero Dawn and haven’t gotten to the first main event, but it gives me this feeling like if I upgrade all my equipment now it might be for nothing. I know that is not the case, I looked it up, but what are some games that are the worst offenders? One I can think of is Aerith in the original FF7.

The egg making off with my master worked staff and full guard on hit gear still has me salty

Dragon Age has a bad habit of doing that. Piss off one of your companions enough in Origins and they'll leave, taking their equipment. Not catastrophic if it's all generic shop gear, but if you have the DLC armor and weapons on them, you won't get them back until your next playthrough. Or until you reload a save and remember to take their shit.

I get it, but at the same time it’s so easy to replace guard on hit gear that I just let it go.
