I had to do the same thing recently - Went into Sports Direct, our 7-year-old tried on about 30 pairs of trainers before we gave up and went to Clarks. Even then it took about 8 pairs and a very patient sales assistant.
We ended up getting school shoes at the same time, and they don't tell you the shoe prices until you get to the checkout and have to fork out over £80...
Anything for a quiet life, eh.
