Mainly tax fraud and lying on a firearm application saying he wasn't on drugs when he was.

The crime is lying on the form. If he'd checked yes on being a drug user, they would have just denied the application.

It was dismissed as frivolous. Plus it's an amendment violation.

Same reasons we keep letting reds get away with gun crimes tbh.

In reality, no they don’t normally proscute lying on the form, but Republicans demanded a prosecution. Normally his punishment would be probation, but the judge is considering something harsher.
