So far Jerboa seems like the move, Thunder looks nicer, but it doesn't seem to play nice with this instance so that's kind of dead in the water, at least for now.

Jerboa. It's pretty bad though, I wouldn't even really call it "usable" since it crashes so much, had to just browse on Firefox on my phone.

[–] Granary 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't think I've had a single crash apart from when clicking on a lemmy link

[–] kratoz29@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You call it a crash, I call it a quick exit button /s

[–] Granary 3 points 1 year ago

It is remarkably quick! Very efficient crash

[–] justhach@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It just started, though. I'm sure once they get over the hiccough of the influx of new users, itll run smoother.

I haven't had any issues with crashing (so far).

Yeah, I know, I do hope it gets better though, and I'll be checking in on every new version they release. But the pessimist in me thinks many open source project has a tendency to not care about UX at all even after years of development (see: RetroArch on Android), which I hope won't be true for Lemmy/Jerboa.

I usually spell it "hiccup". Huh.

[–] justhach@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Its an older spelling, sir, but it checks out.

[–] Comrat@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

And to be fair, I've definitely hic-coughed before too

[–] spicytuna62@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

In my experience, Jerboa is like 85% there. It is buggy sometimes, but it's much easier for me to use. It also has a true dark mode which looks fantastic on an OLED.

[–] wildeaboutoskar@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

I find Jerboa times out quite a lot, never quite sure if my posts go through

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I haven't had any issues other than not being able to reply to comment responses I get.

[–] Soltros@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You know, in Jerboa, I can't even access half the settings. Just doesn't let me scroll. Don't know if it's just me.

[–] OFS_Razgriz@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Definitely some things I'm missing on jerboa. There's no way to go to a post directly from your notification feed which is like... A crucial thing to be able to do.

What device / os are you using it on? I have it on a Pixel 4a and it works with no issues that I've noticed, been smooth sailing. Coming from RIF it also feels fairly familiar.
