Anyway, the paint will come right off the stainless steel with a little mineral spirits or lighter fluid. Its a good thing they did not splash it with a 1:1 ratio mix of ferric chloride and distilled water. That would have been unfortunate.

I'd leave it on, the spay paint would stop it from rusting.

Not sure how good distilled water will burn...

Maybe it would be more of a rust bomb with that ingredients?
