So why would Zelensky announce that?
It could of course be to calm Ukrainians. Or maybe a kind of praise to Trump to make him feel more friendly towards Ukraine.

But my guess is the real reason is to sour Putin on Trump, so when Trump finally meets Putin it won't be a friendly meeting.
