Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!
Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:
- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

Fuck this state. (It’s mine) Andy ogles is batshit crazy.
Agreed neighbor. Swing by Asheville sometime if you're from NET (TN refugee here)
Johnson City here!!! I do head to Asheville a decent amount. Especially after Helene (once I26 reopened) to give Downtown businesses some economic love.
My hometown lol. Swing by Pal's and get a Dr. Enuf and cheddar rounds for me
Yesssss the cheddar rounds are the bomb!!!
I'm a transplant living in NET. Asheville is one of my favorite cities. It's like a breathe of nearly fresh air whenever I get down there. Have you been to Firestorm? The coffee/book shop?
I’m in Johnson City!!
I used to live in Kingsport and Erwin! Up near Knox now.
Erwin got hurt bad in Helene. It looks like Fallout where I26 passes thru. Still have roads that collapsed locally. Thankful they got one lane working so we can’t cut off from Asheville anymore.
Yeah, I know. It's terrible. There's another lemming around here I've spoken to that lives in Erwin.
I'd actually spoken to them about this, but then got distracted and didn't do it. We should make a community for NET and surrounding.
I started Appalachia over a year ago but it’s got no traction.
Oh, link? I haven't seen that one.

AVL is great, if not worsening and getting outrageously expensive these days. TBH I don't even live in Asheville proper anymore, I actually like not paying $2k per month for rent. I've got my eyes set on Detroit in the next year or two.
Firestorm is the anarchist bookstore, no? I've not been but it's been on my radar for years. Might have to check it out this weekend now that you've reminded me.
For a few years as a kid I lived in Black Mountain, but I barely remember it. I love Asheville for visiting, I don't really know what it's like to live there. The whole reason I'm in Tennessee is because it got too expensive in Virginia Beach. I can't imagine it's much better in Asheville.
And yeah, anarchist worker cooperative. They're amazing.
