Does anybody actually believe any of this anymore; that the billions are not going to disappear into CEOs pockets?

My cynicism is new. It's not a good thing. Thanks Boris.

The infrastructure upgrade should have been done before the EVs were forced on us all. If we all actually bought EVs there would be almost continuous brown-outs because the grid in this country could not cope.

When it comes to the grid companies, I have a lot more confidence than other private infrastructure firms.

Basically, it's in their interests. Currently they are misconfigured. The power stations they used to carry power from are no longer there. They need to be able to carry power from the new sources else they'll make no money.

Oh, and charging EVs is fine. It tends to happen overnight when demand is 25% lower, so there's loads of capacity to be soaked up there. Closing the odd refinery or two would free up a load of energy too.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not, by nature, a cynic. It's a new thing for me and I don't like it (about myself). I follow your logic about old redundant operations warping the grid as is and the need to replace those routes.

I'm sure I did a envelope calculation a while back if all EV cars were charged over night but I can't put my hand on it. Probably destroyed it!
