Woman sitting outside my apartment complex for 30 minutes. I asked her if she was ok. ☹️ She was not ok, just had her electric bike stolen and she was sitting there too afraid to go home and tell her guy. She said she was just away from it a few minutes and then it was gone. Not much I could do other than console and say call the police.
I suspect the thieves were following her in a van and stole it real quick because what are chances of a bike being stolen like that?
but bloody hell that is rough and just before xmas too
That's pretty rough 🙁 I witnessed an attempted bike theft at Coburg station a few days ago. Broad daylight, bike locked up right in the main bike parking bit as you walk into the station, heaps of people around. Suddenly this kid across the road yells out, "OI! THAT'S MY FUCKIN' BIKE!" He was with 3 mates and they looked like they were gonna run out onto the road (but thankfully didn't because Bell Street). I looked and there's this dude trying to undo the lock or something. He legged it and when the lights changed the kids came across the road and went to the bike. One of them said, "oh man, look what he's done to your lock! You're gonna have to call your parents." Dude had obviously wrecked the lock in the process of trying to steal it and the kid couldn't undo it. Bloody thieving is out of control!
