Judging by the broken appearance of the display around where the lock connects, maybe the paranoia wasn't unjustified.

i'm like 70% sure that's just the plastic cracking from where the lock was mounted into the other side. but given the zipties on the post, you are probably right that some idiots probably saw the pizza stele and went "that'll look great in my living room" & eventually the restaurant had enough lol.
