Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

You should look into kodi. It's a big screen oriented media player/organizer app.
I have looked at kodi briefly, not sure if its exactly what I'm looking for but could be a viable option. Have heard a lot of good things about it of course. Appreciate the suggestion!
Running kodi on a cage session sounds like a nice idea. Cage’s whole purpose is to run 1 app maximized.
That's a interesting idea. I have always just run it from the command line (it can run directly on the display)
Does Kodi have Wayland support?
I didn't know you could run kodi straight from the tty, sounds cool. And yes, kodi has Wayland support.
