General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Stop reporting on this and start reporting on all the Russian money that’s been going to the Conservative Party for the last 15 years. Show this in context, that’s my advice.

No, don't stop reporting on this just because the other side is even more dirty. That kind of attitude is partly why we're in this situation today.

They should all be held accountable, no matter which party.

Breaking the rules is still breaking the rules. The guardian can report on both.

Except starmer hasent.

He came forward on his own recognisance in the one occation he relised he had. And reported it to parliment.

The rest of the gifts were all reported and are entirly within the rules.

"It's my side doing it, so nothing to see here".

The point is that the two are not comparable. I’m not a great fan of starmer or whatever the ‘Labour party’ is today, but claiming starmer’s wife receiving some clothes from a Labour donor is in any way comparable to the Conservative Party accepting large amounts of money from an unfriendly foreign power is fucking nuts.

They compare gifts declared - and not declared - by previous PMs in the article though

I would like to hold the politicians I vaguely support to a higher standard than the tories.
