In truth, I want to agree with you, and I liked them too, but then I got submerged in the flood of competitively edgy assholes in pretty much every forum I participated in back then where it was like an arms race to try to be the most tWiStEd edgelord with the most sociopathic quotes possible, featuring the most tryhard Coldsteel the Hedgeheg avatars possible.

Oh yeah, Terry Goodkind had swords. I think the only good scene I remember from those books was Death Rugby. He must have gotten someone else to write it for him.
So much of the rest was "contempt for humanity is 'moral clarity' and seeing everyone else as stupid or subhuman makes you a 'wizard'" which is total chanbrain shit.
