I think it's because they're actually scared of Trump with presidential immunity and a Supreme Court that will allow him to do whatever the fuck he wants, so they switched to "let's actually try to win". They might've seen they're quickly approaching the "and then they came for me" part.

It's so wild, man. Trump got shot in the fucking head like 3 weeks ago, and absolutely no one gives a shit. His campaign is failing because they're being called "weird." This might be the worst fumble in history behind Hillary depending on if he loses and by how much

this doesn't really change anything tho for the vast majority of libs imo.. they wouldn't see this as a good thing, if they even cared in the slightest. They might even view it as a net negative that maybe he's a bit of a coward who makes bad decisions for "NATIONAL SECURITY".
