The Irish Tricolour flag represents the country of the Republic of Ireland, 26 counties of the island, which in fact doesn't include the 6 counties that St Patrick mainly operated in. In fact, it can be quite offensive to many people living in the place St Patrick mainly operated in, due to a civil conflict.

St Patrick also has his own flag - a red saltire on a white background - which deliberately represents him.

Making St Patrick's day a festival of Irish Nationalism specific to the Republic of Ireland makes zero sense, and using a flag which only represents part of the island, especially since many Americans are also descended from Ulster Scots in Northern Ireland.

I think AI replacing artists is going to be a good thing in the long run.

Right now, if you want custom artwork made without the use of AI you have to either criminally underpay an artist on Fiverr or pay an artist hundreds of dollars to make one piece which you may not like.

I think the cat is out of the bag on AI generated art pieces and there's no way to put it back in, and so future artists will use a combination of their actual art skills and their ability to work with an AI system to create entirely new and currently nearly impossible art pieces, and there is an entire field of unexplored possibilities waiting to be tapped by Future artists.

AI can't make new art.

All it can do is repurpose pieces of art other people have made, just like Auto-Tune can make you sing on pitch but it can't make you a good singer.

#UnpopularOpinion I think the #Gemini "too woke" fiasco is the best thing that happened. I can't fathom the social consequences or whatever, but having all those outright Nazis getting strokes over Indian founding fathers and Black women 1943 SS soldiers is like the most punk thing since Gretta Thurnberg. As an afterthought, if Elon Fuck says the algorithm is racist now, then it must also have been racist when it excluded Black doctors and shit. Google had even fired their ethicist back then for bringing it up. BUT MUH FREEZE PEACH UWU

People who sing funny songs should be in music showcases.

People are just squeamish about trying them

Yeah I heard alot of people in the Fediverse saying that Meta Threads should be immediately defederated. But I believe that this is a great chance for the Fediverse to grow as a whole. But I think we should only defederate from them when they actually do something that's against the Fediverse (like doing the "Embrace / Extend / Extinguish" tactic).

The Tope is a high risk move, jumping through the ropes and hitting the opponent who is standing outside. In theory it's utterlyh thrilling. But it's entirely overused now. you'll see one per match. It's got all the impact and excitement of a vertical suplex now

I know that we NEED more content at Kbin, Lemmy and all the Fediverse in order for them to grow and substitute Reddit and other networks, but sometimes I just feel really happy that I can open my app and read almost everything that was posted in the last few hours without being suffocated by a billion of new posts.

It controls my anxiety, helps me keep up to date and even makes me want to search for new content and post/interact more.

EDIT: For example, at Instagram, there's so much content being posted every second, that I never spend more than 5 minutes with the app open.

I like the overall lack of in-jokes I've encountered here so far, and I want things to stay that way. This might be an unrealistic thing to hope for, but I like good, pure, discussion, as boring as that may be for some people.

I understand why it's called that, I just wish it was called "verse" or something less lame sounding.

Okay, voxel games were cute, everyone loved Minecraft. But that doesn't mean that voxels are the solution to everything! I really am sick of getting excited at a new game on one of the major services (Steam, Epic, etc) only to have the phrase "voxel graphics" tacked onto the end.

Yes, I'm sure it's easier to design with than conventional graphics, and I respect that. Maybe you want to just get your game out there based on its other merits, like its mechanics or gameplay loop. Cool, I totally get that. But things like Urbek City Builder or Shadows of Doubt just make me cringe a little inside because it's an otherwise great concept mired in graphics that, to my eyes at least, look a little dumb.

We shouldn't rush the gates to try to make kbin just like Reddit.

Sure it might help people migrate but it well ultimately cause this site to stagnate because people can see the exact same things on Reddit that they can see here, but with a lot more engagement on Reddit.

Whenever possible you should try something new.

The plot lines are really generic and the manga ending is really corny. Great animation though.

I have extensive evidence to support this.

  • doesn’t get stringy and stuck between your teeth
  • so convenient - can be sourced from a can without being 10000% revolting
  • vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free
  • choose your own adventure: fresh enzyme mouth tingles or gentle sweet tidbits
  • as American as cheese on apple pie
  • not green pepper
