Normally I just keep these to the megas since we dont have a c/weaving, and these dont really feel like they belong in c/art, but since this one is specifically from a movie I thought I'd post it here too!

I copied the pattern from a screenshot I was able to take when they're in Iceland, even though its still pretty hard to see. Luckly the whole pattern is completely visible, if blurry and pixilated, so I was able to work it out. I wish I could get the one Olga is wearing but hers isnt ever very visible.

Heres the full belt. The pattern completely reverses itself on the other side which looks fantastic. The flipped angle of the way the warp threads twist makes that jagged look, its not visible very from a distance.

More info about the pattern can be found in this post

For this Sunday Kino Night, first up is A Prophet (2009), a French prison drama about an illiterate Arab French man serving a six-year sentence; he arrives a fresh-faced ingenue, but soon toughens himself up as he navigates the politics of the rival gangs that surround him. Eventually, he rises to the top, but at what cost? God Damn France: The Movie. This is considered the magnum opus of director Jancques Audiard, who is otherwise best-known for the Western drama The Sisters Brothers (2018). One of the highest-rated French films of this millennium.

Next is Nowhere (1997), a surreal comedy about a group of LGBT youths in LA about to attend the wildest party of the year, and their bizarre, psychedelic, hypersaturated escapades along the way. Apparently, there’s an alien-abduction plot weaved in here, too. Director is Gregg Araki, who is otherwise known for Mysterious Skin (2004), which we have not watched. A lot of critical acclaim for this one -- “Clueless on Acid” is the recurring refrain in reviews – so let’s give it a whirl.

We’ll start at 8PM EST on Hextube, right here:

For this Friday Movie Night, first up is The Bridges of Madison County (1995), the much-acclaimed adaptation of Robert James Waller’s 1992 novel of the same name. Clint Eastwood goes to a rural Iowa farm and starts schmoozing Meryl Streep, who is already married. Drama ensues as their romance escalates. Pretty much the definition of Oscar bait, but hey, we’ve never watched any of Clint Eastwood’s filmography and this one has excellent reviews everywhere, so let’s check it out. Probably one of your mom’s favorite films.

After that is The Great Silence (1968), the magnum opus of the second-most-famous Spaghetti Western director, Sergio Corbucci, whose film Django (1966) we previously watched. In the chilly Western winter of 1898, a mute gunslinger defends a widow from a gang of sociopathic hitmen out to kill her, and the usual assortment of threats and gun duels follows from there. Dudes are gonna have to rock. Great reviews for this one, so we’ll give it a whirl.

Just started this, dunno how it'll turn out. But it's kind of neat to see a depiction of later samurai, long after their swords had rusted in their scabbards and they had to find real jobs. It seems pretty light hearted so far. Crappy jobs, every day heroism, overbearing grandparents, and dreams that are just out of reach.

For this Special Thursday Cinema Night, 8PM EST, I still have a few leftover horror movies from October uploaded, so let’s keep the ball rolling with Titane (2021). It is a French body horror centering on a woman who, as the result of a childhood car crash injury, has a titanium plate fitted into her head; as an adult, she develops a fetish for cars, which leads her on a strange and often-surreal journey. Oh, and did she mention she’s also a psychopath who likes killing people? A whole lot of bloody encounters ensue from there. Director is Julia Ducournau, who also did Raw (2016), which we watched a couple of weeks ago; this is her other most-well-known film.

After that is Paterson (2016), a bloomer rom-com from Jim Jarmusch, about a New Jersey couple consisting of a bus driver (Adam Driver) and his artist wife, and their slice-of-life antics as they follow their work routines and maintain their relationship. A simple, warm movie about love. Yep, that’s it. Despite that, it has received quite a bit of critical acclaim. Jarmusch has a good record on Hextube, so let’s give it a whirl.

SHAME ON YOU IF YOU NEED TO CLICK THIS.It's President Bartlet in 1970 on an episode of Hawaii Five-O.

Fashion in the 1970s* was a trip. He's wearing matching odd blue trousers.

Ninja edit.

*I just realized it was probably filmed in 1969. So that's another feather in Bartlet's cap. He was in the fashion avant-garde.
