This is very concerning given that horror movie fans are major advocates for physical media. They are collectors. They go out of their way to own their most treasured movies. That’s why there’s a slew of horror underground labels that exist.

Disney has been steadily pushing physical media out of the way for a few years now, but this is certainly the biggest step they've made so far. It’s quite clear that Disney is pushing for a) audiences to go digital and/or b) subscription boosts to Disney Plus.

Its been nine months since the theatrical release of “Barbarian” and still not a word about a blu-ray disc release. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m in no rush to get my physical copy of “Barbarian,” but have we finally reached the point where we need to accept the fact that we might not be getting all the movies we want on physical media?

I hope someone picks this up for release elsewhere as it was a very funny film. Coincidentally, I watched UHF the other day and that is still funny but the Blu-ray is very expensive now and the best version is region A.

Check the link as there are plenty more physical releases in the news today including The Twilight Saga complete set along with The Complete Walking Dead.

Did you know Scrooged originally had a DVD Special Edition announced in 2006 entitled the "Yule Love It Edition!"

The bonus features were going to include:

  • Audio Commentary by director Richard Donner
  • "A Christmas to Remember" featurette
  • "Updating Ebenezer" featurette
  • "Bringing the Ghosts to Life" featurette
  • "The Look of 'Scrooged'" featurette
  • "On the Set with Bill Murray - Parts 1 and 2" featurette
  • "Showest Message from Bill Murray" feature
  • Theatrical Trailer

Unfortunately, the disc never appeared. Maybe some of those features will appear on the new 4K?
