I was using two instances of Pihole, one on a Pi and one via WSL on my Win10 host. Unfortunately my Win10 host no longer works, it’s randomly stopped and I haven’t had the time to try and fix it. I’ve got backups of the config luckily, but to be honest if I can do a more friendly local install with Adguard I’m probably going to give that a go on windows instead. Never tried it but I’m willing to give it a shot if it means it’s not going to break. My Pi install has been bulletproof so far and kept my network running whilst my Windows install has been broken.

I’m currently using just an external drive to backup too, I use cloud storage for all my personal files, but my systems (I run a lot of servers that would be a pain to rebuild and reconfigure) and all my Linux ISOs are backed up nightly to a large external hard drive. However, I appreciate that I’m not covered for the local disaster scenario if my house was to set on fire, so my plan is to also implement Backblaze cloud backups of my server machine so I could have cloud backups of my backups at least.
Coincidences happen and this isn’t too far fetched.
Yeah HomeKit use is definitely worth upgrading and was a big part of me getting an Apple TV when looking for a new streaming device. Also because the latest 4k model 128gb version also has thread on board. It may not be used widely yet, but accessories are starting to trickle out with thread and it’s nice to have a powerful HomeKit hub with thread built in that they could connect to. Camera performance is a lot better with Apple TV as a hub than my HomePod as the hub.
I could see them hitting that price but doing it like they do MacBooks. Maybe offering the base 2022 version for that much, then the new one at 150 with the updated chip for more gaming power and ray tracing, and the 170 model with Ethernet and thread and more storage.
For all mankind. Might make a start on lessons in chemistry too.
Probably feels too good to be true lol. I don’t actively use it but have got it setup as an option just in case I ever need local access to my network and it’s something I’m not hosting. I also use Cloudflare tunnel though so can do the same thing with that. Either way, options are nice.
