Just piggybacking to reiterate the sad truth of this comment, the Dutch have lost their effing minds and IMO are even more self-righteous about "Muh-kraine" than the USAmericans. Both in regards to the politicians and also majority of the people I've talked with about it. It's fucked.

Seems to me the endless onslaught of propaganda during Covid broke so many people's brains to the extent that they are seeking out more propaganda because they literally don't want to think for themselves at all. Hell I'd be surprised if many people on Lemmygrad continued to "follow the science" on Covid since Ukraine started as results from that worldwide experiement are finally starting to come out (instead of just the number models). shrug

There’s no amount of psychoanalysis that can cure a trauma caused by the material reality of a patient. You can give them coping skills, you can make them understand certain aspects of their psyche, but cannot advance any further without improving the material existence.

Exactly. This should be a repeated opening statement for anyone getting into therapy whether as a giver or receiver. Too often it's treated as some mystical "science" whereby all of the patient's ills can be therapized away with just enough inner effort (and money!). I've had many traumas to deal with and at the end of it all the singular thing that helped me the most was solving my basic material needs. Thankfully I came to the same realization as your statement on my own (after much introspection) before getting pathologized and needlessly medicated. I reailze there are people who may need the medication and all, but I'd wager that they are not the majority of people who end up there.

And 80%+ of the Collective West's citizens will buy it, just like they bought Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Ukraine since 2014. It hurts my sensibilities. Some of the most intelligent people I know buy this shit, every fucking time. Clearly deep knowledge in one area doesn't matter much when it comes to spotting admittedly obvious patterns of propaganda. Sigh...

Apologies, for some reason I didn't get a notification for your comment but @Bothersome_Inductor@lemmygrad.ml described the gist of it well :)

And the greedy parasites are so ill-informed of their own system they don't even realize the unescapable inevitability of the capitalist model: eventually profit will become 0. They can't hide behind "externalities" forever, despite their efforts.

Not that I am anticipating a better government to form, but I was quite satisfied to read this when I got home last night. Been living in NL for 11ish years and Rutte has been in power THE ENTIRE TIME. Let's talk about soft dictatorships masquerading as "democracy" shall we?!

Excellent analogy!

I think Elmo is supposed to be choosing "healthy sugars" like those in fruit but he can't resist the pile of sugar instead. Like most sugar junkies :p
