The first Audio Visual stories that feature the Daleks voiced by Briggs were 1985! The Time Ravagers I think. The original version of The Mutant Phase (later redone as a 5th Doctor story for BF) was probably 1986.
Just be thankful I didn't open up a can of bread rolls/buns/baps.
Aldi UK beans aren't as good as they used to be. I think they changed about 6 months ago. That said, they are still decent and my beans of choice.
Ah, the post holiday email catch-up. I don't have to deal with this any more because I'm self employed, but when I worked for a company my caffeine intake always increased considerably in those first couple of days back at work.
I'm just back from Sainsburys with the kids. I always use "the app" to pay for the shopping, but it crapped out today, no doubt due to the poor phone signal on the store (I'm not using their BT wifi), and I suspect the kids popped a two pack of chocolate croissants into the trolley bypassing my scannage. So it's not even midday and we are already a family of pastry thieves.
I mean, it's mostly a joke. Because clearly Monday is. Except for those of us who WFH. I live for Mondays because everyone gets the hell out of my space. Anyway, the daily thread once said Thursday was the worst. So I'm running with it.
And with worse safety, it would appear.
I've recently banned my kid from playing it too. I had only just unlocked it for the first time. I had previously blocked it because it was, IMHO, terrible. As a professional gamedev I find it offensively bad. But I relented, because lots of his friends were playing it. However, and this may be the experiences he was playing, it seems to be almost exclusively training kids up for gambling. Pretty much everything is dopamine based rewards. It's like a casino. It's worst than I ever imagined. I'm this close to banning online play in Minecraft because he is similarly gravitating to the same sort of experiences. In our case it's not about money, he hasn't spent a cent on these things. But the content is very problematic, I have concerns that it is encouraging developing minds that gambling is the norm.
Ah interesting. I really appreciate the ionizer on my Fellow Opus, it does appear to help with the mess (because once it felt like it didn't kick in and boy, was it messy). But I didn't realise that point about the positioning in the workflow. Will need to try a drop of water too.
The book is originally from the 80s, and if I remember correctly part of the conceit is that none of the family know what this strange "avocado pear" is (because in Britain of the 1980s no-one did). I don't think the financial ramifications are really discussed, and the family keep feeding the little blighter avocados until he gets strong enough to beat up a burglar or something.
