It was a joke! i-cant Bro it was just a joke i-cant BROOOO i-cant

I dunno get better material or get used to being called a lib yank, like there's more than enough really shitty things switzerland does, did and has done all you gotta do is look it up for like 5 minutes.

[–] notceps@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

Yeah man the devious swiss set the standard lmao actual lib take.

Honestly been happening more often in the last year or two, not because things are getting better here everyone else is just getting so much worse that bar has been dropping super fast it's wild.

Not yet since it happened over the weekend but he could be thrown in jail for up to a year so here's hoping......

Smallish news that happened over the weekend

An austrian nazi (Martin Sellner) was arrested in switzerland basically he was already banned in the country for you know being a nazi, decided to come here anyways to say some nazi stuff and got arrested. I thought that since he could do it in austria and germany he'd get away with it but I guess not.

I'm guessing he thought it play out the same as it did in germany where he was banned from the country, came in anyways and their government retroactively lifted the ban.

Edit:

Actually since theres some new news about this now the guy got got in the dumbest way ever, he wanted to protest being not allowed in and wanted to do a whole photo shoot of him shaking the hands of some nazis across the border but he got the whole thing wrong and he stood on the swiss side the whole time. Double irony he did it near the 'Nazifence' so....

He'll probably do the whole 'I didn't know I'm just a smol bean' and since he's austrian he'll probably get away with a fine but oh man just the dumbest guy imaginable.

I think in his very narrow niche he's not too bad it's really when he tried to do the big politics understander where he showed his ass. I actually think it lining up is plausible because both candidate are so sauceless like neither has any momentum to them that pretty much any event can start to shift things drastically. Like either Trump or Kamala could show up any day say something dumb and just immediately lose because of how shitty they are.

Nathanial Bronze calls it even just now with his prediction thingie

This is roughly a week after the betting market was dead even so there probably is a short lag due to Nate relying on polls, this doesn't come as a shock to anyone but it is really not looking good for Kamala from here on out.

Wikipedia has some good pages and some horrifically bad pages, we all know the one where some american teen made all the scots pages even though he literally didn't speak a word of scots but there's tons of other pages that are questionable at best and wrong at worst. The main contributors after decades are still like 80% men and most of them are in a STEM field which again shows in pages that go outside of that narrow niche. I at one point edited some wiki pages myself and you'll literally have some guy do a fucking edit war because he thinks Somatotypes are real and you have to fight for months because you don't have the clout of a math nerd.

And this isn't even looking at the serious Nazi problem wiki has.

Wikipedia had decades to get their act together, they didn't I doubt they will anytime in the future because of how their whole shitty system works.

Edit: To double down their reviewers are also shitty STEMlords who often have no qualifications but think they do, again look at any philosophy page which is just laughable. Everyone is always walking around on eggshells when it comes to how shitty some sections of wikipedia are which has resulted in festering puss filled wounds that glorify nazis and since it's on wikipedia well then it has some credibility to it.

I would say sort of? If you are Kamala you cannot regain the left at this point they'll just continue to slip out of your hands so I think her bid is 'Hey right wingers vote for us because unlike trump we are less embarrassing we will do all the things you want.'

But then Trump is also just like all over so I don't know if you can be 'to the right of' a person that has no clear position.

Don't mind me just passing through with some vote information.

Both Kamala and Trump are dead even as far as the betting market is concerned

And pollsters are doing their song and dance

It would be somewhat funny if Trump again wins the EC but loses the popular vote.

This one was actually kind of hard had to fight GB 4 times and France 1 time but got it done.

First full Vic3 run after the new DLC, went for a Soviet Union run which went ok.

A bunch of other stuff happened like Trotsky being killed by a frenchman lots of european nations going communist and stuff

First time on the map, was incidentally on the domination map which meant couldn't really expand and on year 6 I was attacked and crushed.

lemmy.ml is terribly moderated - how and where do you settle this?

I'm not quite sure how I best encourage this discussion - so I'll ask this here. I am somewhat shocked, how /c/worldnews@lemmy.ml is moderated. Large parts of the instance are in my view in tankie-territory like lemmygrad or hexbear, so much so that I find it borderline unaccaptable.

I question myself, how something like this could have consequences. Feddit has blocked both lemmygrad as well as Hexbear, lemmy.ml is several times larger and in many parts not problematic. Would that instance be blocked users would be unable to access a lot of content.

I ask myself, how do you settle this in the Fediverse, especially when it comes to larger instances. If the admins on feddit find the mods on lemmy.ml problematic, which avenues could they pursue to pressure them without defederating.

Other titles I thought about:

Feddit.de not beating the nazi instance allegations

Lemmy.ml welcome to the resistance

Also the incident that caused this very reasonable and very normal fedditor to get not mad at all

Today is the first day of fall so here it is.

It's here the Fediverse FallJam.

You want to learn a game engine that isn't unity? Are you a beginner and want to get your feet wet or finally get one project done? Making pixel/voxel art for the first time? Go for it, learn and grow!

Unlike most gamejams this one is much longer because we have more than a few people that don't have as much free time as they'd like.

The “Kubrick Stare” is one of Stanley Kubrick‘s most recognizable directorial techniques, a method of shot composition where a character stares at the camera with a forward tilt, to convey to the audience that the character in question is at the peak of their derangement.

Pretty much title, I also think a good practice would be to limit the amount of non-FOSS programs people are allowed to use
