Dank voor de reacties trouwens. Ben blij dat er gewoon een Nederlandse gemeenschap is buiten Reddit.

Jammer alleen dat ik in de reacties m'n anonieme account voor altijd heb gekoppeld met mijn niet-anonieme account.

For some years now, I have seen this graph go around on social media. I think it's a powerful image, because it shows us so clearly that it is happening in our lifetime and under our watch.

But when I use it in my work, I always add the disclaimer the the graph does not show when it was made.

Because that is a problem: the graph might show us that if you are currently 30 years old, 50% of all the CO2 that has been emitted since 1751 has been emitted in your lifetime. But that percentage changes over time.

By now, for people who are currently 30, the percentage will be higher, simply because the annual emissions have gone up since the graph was made.

So I made a new version of the graph, the interactive version of which you can find here: http://mishathings.org:8050/

I wrote a post about this: https://mishathings.org/2024-08-12-how-much-co2-has-been-emitted-in-my-lifetime.html

I love how I can customize my PC/VPS (Linux), and I feel truly at home. I hate smartphones (iPhone and Android). I hate it how limited I am in configuring them, and it's a PITA to make sure it all syncs with my main computer.

Why isn't it much more common to just use our phones as little windows/gateways to our actual computers? Using something like VCN? Internet speeds should be fast enough?

We could even build a little interface that makes it easier to navigate?

I'm with you. Let's do this.

  1. Every step there is a 60% chance a random branch dies. But one branch always remains.
  2. Every step there is a 50% chance that a random branch sprouts a new branch.
  3. Branches move away from their nearest neighbour and don't like to be close to the edges.

Just to clarify, in the video I hoover the (unfortunately invisible) cursor above the comment links, which then appear at the bottom of the screen.

I was trying to link to one of these specific comments, when I found out that the one next to it has the same url. Is this supposed to happen? https://mander.xyz/comment/717587

Lol, I didnt see the screenshot yet. Thanks.

(Doesn't it make sense to separate these options?)

(Loving the updates of the latest jerboa version BTW)

You mean this?

On the web version of Lemmy I can choose different ways of sorting comments, but in Jerboa there are no options for this?

[–] mishathings@mander.xyz 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks, I will check again soon!

I am trying to create a new account at Mander, but after submitting my info and clicking "register" the page keeps hanging? Does anyone else recognize this?

You mean get rid of family and friends right?

Does anyone recognize this issue (see image)?

Just checking: am I correct that there are two AskLemmy's?

https://lemmy.ml/c/asklemmy https://lemmy.world/c/asklemmy

If so, is there any way to bring communities with the same purpose (or even same name) on different instances together? If not, how can we prevent fragmentation of these communities?

It's a bit old, but I thought that some of you might still like this thing.
