I asked my coworkers who are mostly black and Puerto Rican (some of them even converted to Islam; none of them seem like atheists). They all agree that Trump will abolish taxes on overtime and forced child support (they swore that they would still pay for what their children actually need; I guess I gave them a "look"). Honestly, I couldn't find a real source of Trump even promising these things. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made up on social media.

It seems that many non-white urban folks voted for Trump. It seems most people just want a promise of food and shelter if they put in the work (people are working so many hours now). There's probably a logical reason why neither party has a platform anymore.

just the kind of person who enjoys being a contrarian

I thought the end was slightly passive aggressive. It wasn't bad at all.

The other user did namecall first but I think we of the Linux community have to remember we used free software out of ethics. Things seem more rosy and user-friendly comparatively now but you have to remember the people who have the same ethics will "stick it out" regardless of the end user experience.

I thought your first post was slightly aggressive but this post goes too far. We should be preaching the ethics of free software first; while always remembering everyday ethics so we don't end up as hypocrites.

From what I'm hearing, Microsoft wants to ban anti-cheat and plenty of other kernel-space software. They are possible security issues (along with all of Windows).

Well, in that case, I'm happy that many of these accounts of, "I'm going to get mine, so certain populations are out of luck" are just alts.

You got banned from a vegan community and a left-wing meme community. Did you really get banned from a vegan community because "screeching about genocide?"

Animals use a lot of body language. So, if AI could lift your tail to "speak" cat, i would finally get impressed by AI.

Being able to set your own hours is something most people dream of. Many conventional jobs have a busy season where 50+ hours is mandatory. I'm glad your friend is able to get a good balance going.

Considering Lemmy's market share, these memes only exist to harass third party voters.

As if Lemmy, which has a small userspace spread out over the world, can influence the election. Yet, here we are with a overly active Democrat and Israeli brigade making sure dissenting opinions cannot exist.

Israeli forces ignited a devastating fire at Ramallah and al-Bireh's main vegetable market in the occupied West Bank on Thursday that has destroyed dozens of shops owned by Palestinians and caused millions of shekels in losses.

Troops raided the neighbouring West Bank cities at dawn, firing live ammunition, stun grenades and tear gas in residential areas and the local market, known locally as al-Hisbah.

Wooden carts caught on fire and the flames spread throughout the market and to nearby commercial buildings, wounding at least one person and ravaging over 100 stalls and shops, according to al-Bireh's acting mayor, Robin al-Khatib.

The U.N. humanitarian affairs office has recorded 650 attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since Oct. 7, harming residents and property. It says settlers have killed at least nine Palestinians in the territory and Israeli security forces have killed more than 400 Palestinians in that time.

I'm trying to replace two dead bushes. There was one single bush (My guess is either a boxwood or juniper bush) on each side of the porch stair case. I was hoping to find something non toxic for kids, dogs, and especially cats. Most likely the cat will frequent these bushes. Everything seems to be at least somewhat poisonous from what I read on the internet.

I would appreciate suggestions. I would prefer something that grows around 4ft tall and thrives in the USDA zone 6.
