It's simply a strategic move to cater to Trump's ego.

It's actually genius. Make Trump look good, tie US closer to Europe while unshackling from Russia.

Appealing to Trump's ego is the only way allies will survive. And if Trump ever leaves office, it's still good news if Dems get back in.

The actual logistical process of getting away from LNG is probably more monumental than is feasible in the near-term.

I want to see filibustering at every turn.

Jill Stein, Putin, and domestic right-wing astroturfers are clinking champagne glasses over this.

I watched that as well yesterday. Somber albeit pointed episode. Political theology nails it because we're entering a phase (see Michael Flynn going around promoting the Christian Nationalist movement) where GOP leadership is elevated to a religious faith. And we all know arguments of reason or ethics do not work on those whose belief set is forged on blind faith and loyalty.

It's probably best that we hope for the best and expect the worst. At this point, it seems the only way things will course-correct is when it all comes crashing down. And that won't be pretty for anyone.

Your argument — hiding behind a counter-factual impossible to prove — is an old one. Cap it off with a Post Hoc fallacy, why don't ya?

Educate yourself on the basic fallacies, and perhaps you'll gain the prerequisite critical-thinking skills to have a good faith discussion.

(But boy, Palestinians are going to be ever so grateful for the uncommitted vote for the next 4+ years, LOL)

Well said. I hesitate to say I've studied this but it's been a subject of passion of mine for some time now, and I've written long write-ups on how to, as you say exactly, inoculate people from mis/disinformation. However, once people lose their anchor to reality, it is extremely hard to get them back.

Are there ways out of our predicament? Maybe. And that's a big maybe. Our moves have to be perfect from hereon out but even so... We may be beyond the point of no return and now the whole thing may have to come crashing down.

It sadly makes sense that the abortion referendums backfired bigly. In midterms and off-years it was different because there was nobody at the top of the ticket to lead to strategic voting.

I am fucking astounded that there is still a disconnect even with high level Democrats who can't seem to grasp that much of America is living in a completely alternate reality because of the right-wing propaganda machine, exacerbated by foreign adversaries like Russia.

Lichtman's (one saving grace from this election I never have to hear about this charlatan) keys prove this because he never accounts for the disconnect between what we see versus those in the echo-chamber perceive.

The megaphone of disinformation and sowing of distrust of traditional media, in my view, was the single biggest reason for our loss.

Talk about lacking foresight.

Good luck with things ever getting better for Palestinians now.

Yep. Just write off Israel as a constant at this point; there are still myriad issues where a chasm separates an R or D: Ukraine, Climate Change, LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights, etc.

Mind you, it disgusts me, too.

This is also why people need to vote blue no matter how blue your state is.

This gaslighting denial, absent of any actual substantive logic truly is laughable.

I guess I'm curious about generations (namely GenZ and Alpha) who didn't live in a pre-Internet time. Like,

  • How was the concept first explained to you, or when did it click?
  • Do you understand how insane it is to have the aggregate of all human knowledge — the only comparable thing once being a physical library or university — one search away? That it's absolutely insane you can engage in a real-time conversation with someone on the opposite side of the world? That you can find niche communities in an instant?
  • Were your parents super strict about internet usage? How quickly did you find workarounds?

June 28 (Reuters) - A group of U.S. voters who were unable to choose between Joe Biden and Donald Trump before Thursday's presidential debate delivered their verdicts after the contest and it was almost universally bad news for Biden.

Of the 13 "undecideds" who spoke to Reuters, 10 described the 81-year-old Democratic president's performance against Republican candidate Trump collectively as feeble, befuddled, embarrassing and difficult to watch.

All undecided voters in a U.S. swing states focus group hosted by pollster Frank Luntz said President Biden should be replaced as the Democratic nominee after watching his first presidential debate against former President Trump.

Lord Cameron said while he would not support a major ground offensive in the Gazan city of Rafah, the UK would not copy US plans to stop some arms sales.

He said the UK supplies just 1% of Israel's weapons and warned Israel must do more to protect civilians and allow humanitarian aid through.

Golly I wonder what would happen if many people requested such reports simultaneously. It seems these must be processed manually by admins.

As a bonus, it's nice because all your comments and messages are searchable.
