I had to add the IP to my hosts file. Google DNS can't resolve the IP for lemmy.fhmy.ml, even now.

Server: dns.google Address: 8.8.8.8

*** dns.google can't find lemmy.fmhy.ml.: Non-existent domain

other DNS servers can

lemmy.fmhy.ml. Server: dns9.quad9.net Address: 9.9.9.9

Hand them over to Elon Musk, so he can sink them

It'd be nice if op edited the post with this information.

I think you got it!! All communities there

This too shall pass. Thankfully the actual nicotine withdrawal only lasts a couple of days, even though rhe habit/social can linger for months or even years

It seems it always uses active for listing and doesn't change when you select a different sort

On Beta:

  • missing some communities I'm subscribed to from the subscribed list. For example..lemmyconnect lol

  • missing communities I moderate

  • it'd be great to be able to favorite communities directly from the search without having to subscribe to them

I bought a Tesla because I wanted an electric car with certain features and all the other brands, sold thru dealerships, insisted in charging a 'low stock' fee of $6-$10k that I wasn't willing to pay, even though I prefer some of the other options.

If that makes me a tool.. well, ok I guess. I'll be in the shed if you need me

So.. cp with extra steps? Sometimes articles really go far not to call things what they are

Maybe you could learn about how civilized people had a meaningful conversation and reached a decision they felt was better for the community and themselves a d stop hoping to fence the sea hoping it'll hold the water

As long as you make sure you take them out including the roots they should be fine. Water them well after repotting.

Also, I imagine you could report the community owner or in the worse case, instance list the accounts of their admins, so you could dm them

I don't seem to be able to show them in my subscribed list. Ideally, I'd have a category for them, but at least they should show with the rest of them

Title

I hope this is the right place to discuss a potential feature for lemmy.

I've been reading a lot of the defederation calls from instances and their users. More often than not, this was due to very specific elements of those instances; trolls, extremists, etc... But in my opinion, defederating a whole instance because of that is a sad pity.

I was thinking a way to solve this would be to have a federated blacklist. Instance Admins would ban user accounts from their instance and that would be added to a list that could be consulted/automatically used by other instance owners. They would ideally be able to set parameters, like banning users from a list accepted by a number of other instances, a specific reason for the ban, or banned by specific instances.

This would lessen the administrative load, protect instances, allow different instances with shared concerns to help each other while allowing their own users to interact with the 'compatible' users and communities from other instances.

Just an idea and wanted to bring it up and hear some thoughts.

I love sync, so I hope he gets to it!

Business as usual, keep them well moderated and on topic... buuuuut, add a rule that all content shared must contain a link to your fediverse community

Right now on lemmy.world, but it happens in others as well. Is there a fix?

Does being in a previous version cause issues such us being unable to search for other communities in instances in a higher version?

Not mine, just cross-posting.

I don't know if this breaks etiquette or something, but if you want other instances to be able to see the community you created here you can go to their page and search for your community from their server !community@lemmy.fmhy.ml

That will 'cache' it for them, and if someone searches for a related keyword it will show up.

Maybe something that is not understood by new lemmings, at least me, is that when we join communities in other instances we may find ourselves blocked from accessing them (without creating another account) in the future.

A reasonable PSA seems to be to keep in mind the 'philosophy' of other instances before joining general interest communities such as News, Technology, Gaming, etc...

As posted by @maltfield@lemmy.ml at https://lemmy.ml/post/1243402 , there are some instances that seem to have an easy trigger when blocking others:
