It is pretty powerful. We use it in RKWard (GUI/IDE) for #rstats.

It supports many languages. Have a look at https://kate-editor.org/.

I have a simple solution. Just use multiple desktops. You can use all of them as default. 😃
Then you don't have to decide. 🤓
