OK, cheers for the info.
If I moved to protonVPN, what all is involved in reconfiguring? I assume it’s more complicated than just changing my VPN credentials to a different provider.
There is some current challenges with ProtonVPN, see here:- https://forums.unraid.net/topic/75539-support-binhex-qbittorrentvpn/?do=findComment&comment=1278114
Also, I assume port forwarding is required for the container (deluge one) to work?
Required?, no, recommended, yes, if you dont have a working incoming port then your dl/ul speeds will be slower.
Also, thank you so much for the work you do. I’m disabled and have to use eye gaze technology - having a reliable container for deluge has been a god send for me.
Good luck my friend, being disabled is not easy, I have first hand experience of that, so i'm glad i'm doing my tiny part to make your life easier.
If you want an easy life, then my advise is signup to PIA, i have good support for PIA and port forwarding is all managed for you, but the choice of provider is completely yours, some people don't trust PIA and that is their prerogative.
Hey no probs!, thank for joining, for any Android users out there I'm quite enjoying 'Jerboa' it just got a ton of bugfixes applied, it's not as slick as RIF but still it's not half bad either!.
You could stick a Lemmy instance in a VM/docker container locally for rough testing. Understood, I will go down this route I think, for now at least, I apologise if I have caused unnecessary churn on your servers.
And we could maybe get this community designated as a test/sandbox for final community testing? I think that would be nice to have in the future as I'm never going to have 100% confidence that everything works until I post to the live instance, so a sandbox area would be ideal.
I'm using it simply to test out a very basic Python script I'm working on, is there any way to make a community hidden or is that simply not possible?.
I created a VERY cheap and cheerful server in the early days (unraid 5.x) just so I could get two USB external drives out from under my TV in the lounge, and it slowly grew from there.
Is there a setting that can fix this issue in the container?
sorry, nope this is controlled from the vpn provider.
If not, I assume I would need to do a new container using a different VPN?
you would need to find a new vpn provider that permits port forwarding and reconfigure your container
I hope so, but only time will tell if this does take off and become a growing community, I will put some effort in posting here but in the end it will be up to the users as to whether it lasts the test of time.
If you are seeing crashes then ensure you are not falling foul of the two known issues reported in the changelog, namely i915 driver issues, or the macvlan related issue, link to the changelog (bug documented in 6.12.0 changelog):- https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/release-notes/6.12.0
LOL, fair enough.
