cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/2322235

I've decided to move the community to !usmlr@lemmy.world, for several reasons:

  • The stated focus of lemmy.ml is "A community of privacy and FOSS enthusiasts," and this community doesn't fit that description
  • There is uncertainty around the .ml domain, with the government of Mali taking control of the domain away from the Freenom registrar, and the fmhy.ml lemmy instance losing their domain
  • I originally created the community on lemmy.ml because beehaw.org was deferating from popular servers, but the majority of active users in this community so far are on either lemmy.world or sh.itjust.works (both deferedated by beehaw) and even making posts here with a lemmy.ml account beehaw is just not getting new content, and appears to only have one subscriber (which I believe is probably just my own beehaw account).

I have set [the lemmy.ml] community to only allow moderators to post, so please sub over on lemmy.world and I'll see you there!

fantastic, thanks. I don't think I ever would have found that myself. Doesn't appear to be the case that the automatic DB check is in v0.18 though, as it still fails on https://enterprise.lemmy.ml/c/usmlr.

Any idea what it is about the community that is triggering the bug? I see other communities are working just fine.

Going to https://lemmy.ml/c/usmlr gives a 404, but https://lemmy.ml/c/usmlr@lemmy.ml works.

There's also quite a bit of lag in federation, with most other instances not even having the last changes I made to the description. Only lemmy.world does, but I also moderated and post in the community from that instance, so that may be why.

I would assume beehaw simply won't receive the posts I make from my lemmy.world account, because defederation.

I made a post in !guitar@lemmy.studio from here on lemmy.ml, and then wanted to crosspost it to !guitars@lemmy.world (again, from here on lemmy.ml). When I clicked on the cross-post button in the original post, nothing I typed in the Community field seemed to pop up as a match for the desired federated community to cross-post to.

So I simply copied the URL, Title, and Body of the original post, but added [Crosspost] in the Title, and Crossposted from ... in the body with a lemmy.ml link to the original, and blockquoted the copied body text.

Original - https://lemmy.ml/post/1178638 Crossposted - https://lemmy.ml/post/1207214

If you look at them both, you will see these little tidbits

Original

Crosspost

So .. it did actually get recorded in the back-end as a cross-post, even though the front-end didn't look like it was possible. So is this a UI bug that you can't select a federated community as the destination of a crosspost? Was it the inclusion of Crossposted from <lemmy.ml link to original> that made it identify as a crosspost?

Comes and goes, syncing posts and comments with federated servers seem particularly laggy though. I find that more concerning than the main user-facing UI being laggy during waves of new users.

I thought Rogers was strictly Canadian, but you moderate Houston Texans community?

Of course his lawyer was named Jim Trusty.😆 Reality is just too full of onions anymore.

Is there a pedal like the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe, but full stereo (inputs too) and expression control over regen (to nosedive in and out of oscillation). I know there's the rubberneck with the instant oscillation footswitch. There's the Wampler Metaverse which is stereo in/out and can control feedback/regen via expression but apparently it doesn't actually stereo pan the repeats and apparently in spite of being all digital does not support firmware updates. There's the EHX Grand Canyon which doesn't do stereo in. Recommendations?

Hey there! @beto@lemmy.studio setup a Music-focused instance, and created !guitar@lemmy.studio over there. Given the pinned post on the front page here requesting new users register on a different instance, I figured it would be good to cross-promote this new community here too.

Can someone create one or both here since I'm on another instance?

The Black Crowes - Southern Harmony Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

Honorable mention

The Black Keys - Thickfreakness The White Stripes - Icky Thump CeeLo Green - The Lady Killer

I have very little concept of what songs are from which albums anymore thanks to modern streaming subscriptions.

What order do people recommend to you?

I had heard about the series for ages before consuming any content. I have ADHD so I read pretty slow, and that tends to bias my enjoyment to visual media. I first watched the Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic mini series with Sean Astin, then Going Postal, and they were all great. I'm reading the books now in, I believe, publication order. Currently on Sourcery. They've all been quite enjoyable so far. Granny's headology still cracks me up.

Hard agree with Blinken here.
