I love The Princess Bride, both the movie and the book. The movie is such a stand-out because of the extraordinary cast and Rob Reiner's consummate direction. The book is superb because of all the humor in the conceit of the book within a book. All the little asides about "the original book" and the narrator's family could not really be fully inserted into the movie because they would have destroyed the flow of the plot. Nonetheless, they are hilarious. Speaking of hilarious, Billy Crystal's ad lib performance in the movie, not to mention Carol Kane's, had me rolling!

Nope. I feel exactly the same about good old Jude. I nearly threw it across the room after I finished it.
