I didn't notice that one as much as I noticed "wetly" being used to describe things that were definitely not actually wet.

Tamsyn Muir uses the word "wet" or variations thereof a lot. It's not so ubiquitous as to be annoying, but it is noticable.
Unfortunately fewer and fewer authors actually seem to hire professional editors nowadays. I assume it's hard for most authors who aren't already incredibly big names to afford one, but it has had a noticeable effect on modern novels overall.
