I’m sure Bruce Horak would love it.

Unfortunately he’s not in the fediverse as yet to my knowledge.

Paramount repatriated the show to Paramount+ just about everywhere.

Star Trek is even on P+ in Canada now, although we still have the shows coming in on premium cable via Media as well.

I can see that. As a Canadian, I found he projected an image that was too ‘All American’ and less interesting than Alex Cord.

I’d say that I like the more intellectual, scientist version of the character in Genesis II.

But as with The Cage and the network’s reaction to Jeffrey Hunter’s original Captain Pike and the push for ripped shirts and fight scenes with Shatner, Roddenberry was pushed to get an actor with a more military, action hero vibe for his second attempt with Planet Earth.

I think the Dylan Hunt casting had a downward trend.

Alex Cord in ‘Genesis II’ >> John Saxon in ‘Planet Earth’ >>>>>>>>>>> Kevin Sorbo in ‘Andromeda’

Although all the blond women leads - Mariette Hartley; Diana Muldaur and Lisa Ryder respectively - were all better actors than the content they were given to work with.

Fluevogs are very well made and last for years. Definitely worth it from a quality/price perspective.

Depending on where you live in North America, there’s likely a John Fluevog location where you can try them on before buying.

Learned from my English Nana, who also tried to teach me basic crochet and various cast ons and offs. Managed a scarf that my mum finished.

But it was Brownies that made me complete a ‘potholder’ square independently. Since then, on and off, adding to skills from books mostly. We used to have a shop in the region with a proprietor who knew obscure knitting techniques and would show them patiently as long as you were buying yarn there regularly. No longer unfortunately.

However, I’ve found YouTube great more recently for some of those rarely used techniques that there’s no one around to show you.

Never have been convinced that the toy branding and marketing has been targeted appropriately for Star Trek.

Playmates never quite seemed to hit the mark. They were trying to create a mass market toy but marketing for collectors.

The other side of the Paramount house has done brilliantly with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles branding, tie-ins and toys since they took them away from Nickelodeon.

While the television franchise is in good hands with Secret Hideout, bringing in some fresh perspective from the TMNT team seems very needed.

New fans & returning fans are always welcome on c/risa.

Star Trek is up to 11 different shows not including shorts & movies. Each has a core ensemble of ~ 7 characters plus recurring ones.

These characters are from two different 90s era shows Deep Space 9 (Martok and Kira) and Enterprise (T’Pol and Archer).

This instance has an FAQ and wiki that includes ‘where to start.’

If you don’t have the SNW boots from John Fluevog, suggest getting a pair.

They’ve also just released a ‘Cadet’ low cut version which may be great cosplay even if they don’t show up eventually onscreen. Preorders closed in September, but one expects them to be on sale once they’ve been released to stores.

For those struggling with the meaning of the lyrics for ‘Alouette’, there’s even a more bizarre Québécois nonsense song along similar lines ‘Mon Merle’.

In this case, the blackbird starts by losing a body part, then getting three back in its place. Worse, the singer asks each time ‘Comment vas-tu mon Merle’, literally ‘How’s it going blackbird.’

Here’s a rather delightful, celebrated 1958 animated short featuring the song, sung by ‘The Trio Lyrique of Montreal‘ with an English introduction . (It used an experimental cut-out animation method.)

Dr. Miglemo would be horrified.

One our kids is currently putting together a ‘Jaxi’ music box with a Christmas tree on it. Turns out to be a BlueBrixx product.

It’s fine, and encouraging us to get more from them.
